Steps/Process to Reset Password for Nodal Offices
A) Capture of Reset Password request by Nodal Office (Maker Activity)
1. The Maker is required to click on 'Forgot Password' link on the home page ( www.cra-nsdl.com ) and select 'Instant Reset IPIN' Option. On selection, the User is required to provide User ID in designated field alongwith Captcha code.
2. On submission, the User is required to provide mandatory details (*marked fields) alongwith his/her new password (IPIN) as per own choice. The User must ensure that 'Name' and 'Designation of the Authorised Contact person' is entered properly in the respective fields. Also,'Office City' and 'Pin Code' should be of the place where Nodal Office is situated and 'Registered Email Address' should be e-mail ID currently registered in the NSDL-CRA system. The User needs to ensure that these details are matching with the details available in NSDL-CRA system.
3. Once the details are submitted, a confirmation screen displays the entered details which is required to be confirmed by the User.
4. On confirmation, an Acknowledgment Number will be generated. A print option has been provided to print the Acknowledgement details as appearing in the screen. The User is required to submit this printed Acknowledgement to associated Monitoring/Oversight Office for 'Authorization' of this request.
B) Authorization of Reset Password request by Oversight Office (Verifier Activity)
1. On receipt of Acknowledgement details for Reset Password request from its underlying Office, the Verifier user is required to login the NSDL-CRA system ( www.cra-nsdl.com ) using the login credentials and navigate to 'User Maintenance' and select 'Authorize Re-Issue of IPIN/TPIN' to verify the request.
2. The Verifier can search the request based on User ID, Acknowledgement Number or Date Range. The User is required to select Transaction Type as 'Reset IPIN'. On submission of request, NSDL-CRA system will display the pending requests for authorization. The Verifier is required to select the hyperlink on Acknowledgement Number for view of details captured by the Maker.
3. The Verifier is required to either 'Approve' or 'Reject' the request. In case of 'Rejection', the User should provide appropriate 'Remarks' in the designated field.
4. On successful authorization of Acknowledgement request, the authorization timestamp alongwith appropriate message will be displayed. Once the request is authorized, an email confirmation of activation of the IPIN for Reset Password request will be sent to the registered e-mail IDs as well as alternate e-mail IDs provided by the Maker User.
The request captured for 'Reset of Password' by Oversight/Monitoring Offices will be verified by NSDL-CRA on submission of printed Acknowledgement details of 'Reset Password request' to CRA for authorization. Once the request is authorized, an email confirmation of activation of the IPIN for Reset Password request will be sent to the registered e-mail IDs as well as alternate e-mail IDs provided by the Maker User.
